About Me: I grew up in a small town in Maine. After graduation, I spent thirteen years traveling around as a professional nanny. Being a Nanny is what brought me to the Lower Shore where I met and married my husband Steve. I am currently attending Salisbury University working towards receiving my B.A. in Early Childhood Education with a Minor in child Psychology. I was licensed in August 2006 as a family provider. In September 2007, I founded and started Professional Family Provider Association of the Lower Shore which I am currently President. Steve and I enjoy traveling, boating and surf fishing.
About this Child Care: This Child Care is Accredited through the National Association of Family Child Care and is Credentialed through the Maryland State Department of Education~Office of Child Care. I have also completed the Maryland Model for School Readiness training. In addition, I have attended the Devereux Early Childhood training on how the DECA Program can be implemented in my early child care setting. I believe in "Hands On" activities and "Teachable Moments".
Program Philosophy: From birth to the age of six tremendous physical and mental growth occurs. Children should be allowed to discover and express themselves freely. I will provide a safe, nurturing home environment that supports each child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs. I believe children learn in different ways therefore, I support Gardner's Multiple Intelligences teaching method which I have incorporated into my day care setting. I also encourage the Waldorf Principles with hands on learning experiences. Play is an important part of a childs' development that tends to get pushed aside in today's society. Children in my care will learn through everyday experiences and discovery.
