Why Join PFPALS?

The Professional Family Provider Association of the Lower Shore is an organization of family child care providers supporting quality child care on a local level.  This makes PFPALS a great source of information and networking among child care providers.  Members offer vast knowledge from years of experience. Providers participating in our association gain confidence, and a better understanding of becoming professional early childhood educator as they work with other professionals on a local and state level.

PFPALS meets once a month (except in July & August) to share ideas, provide training workshops, offer support, and network with other providers.  The Board of Directors also meets monthly. Participation as an officer, board member or serving on a team allows providers to earn professionalism units for Office of Childcare Credentialing Program. PFPALS is here to help providers grow and learn as they become professionals in the field of child care.

By joining PFPALS, providers will learn more about their profession. From Business skills to childcare practices, to State and National Legislative issues providers learn through information provided at the monthly meetings, on this website, in emails and during trainings.

As a PFPALS member, providers also become a member of the Maryland State Family Child Care Association (MSFCCA).   Members of MSFCCA enjoy discounts to the annual conference held in Ocean City, Maryland. At the conference providers can attend professional trainings, receive Core of Knowledge certificates, have a chance to network with providers from across the state, and share the sense of pride for work well done in our field. Attending the conference also helps providers to meet and/or exceed training requirements, as well as, build excitement and knowledge that can be taken back to the providers own childcare program.

PFPALS, along with other agencies, is working with family child care providers to join together to celebrate and recognize the quality and professionalism in the work that we all enjoy so much. PFPALS also participates in Provider Appreciation Day in May. It is always nationally recognized on the Friday before Mother's Day. PFPALS believes it is important to recognize the importance of family child care and our part in keeping families working, thus, ensuring a strong economy within our state.

There is so much more we could share with you about benefits of joining the Professional Family Provider Association of the Lower Shore...but you will have to join us to find out!  What would be the fun of telling you everything...join us and discover the excitement of PFPALS.
